Nigeria’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo on Monday said more resources are required for higher institutions of learning to invest in research.
The Vice President made the remark when he received a delegation led by National President, John Momoh.
He said the government should focus on how to endow research because it is what puts countries on the world map of intellectual achievement and attainment.
Speaking with reporters, he made the call for more resources to be devoted to research, adding that universities ought to be at the frontline of scholarships and intellectual achievements.
Referencing the COVID-19 Pandemic and the place of medical research in tackling the virus, the Vice President stated that, the government needs to be able to put some resources behind medical research which is scientific type research where benefits can immediately be seen.
