The Honourable Minister of sports, Sunday Dare Thursday inaugurated 16-man Committee to develop the football strategy that will enhance government roles at all levels in the federation as well as the private sector in partners and social enterprise sector in the development of the game.
The Committee will also put an end to the inconsistent, irregular football calendar; lack of professionalism in Nigeria club administration, fall out of the lack of enforcement of licensing and financial controls; and the inability to produce and sustain a conducive environment for private investors and funders.
The Minister in his speech said it is important that the committee begin the ten-year work plan now. He stated that if anything needs to be done at any time for the sake of our football, it is the “Football Ten Year Development Masterplan”.
He also added that the Federal Government, through the Sports Ministry and the Nigeria Football Federation are on the same page regarding the development of football in Nigeria.
The Minister also said that the committee is a Presidential assignment and that the NFF is also working for the good of the game in Nigeria.
The members include; Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima – Chairman, Mr. Yemi Idowu – Vice-chairman, Dr. Bode Durotoye Secretary, Mr. Musa Amadu – Assistant Secretary.
