The Independent national electoral commission (INEC) has announced the suspension of the continuous voter registration, CVR.
According to a Press release signed by the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and voter education, Festus Okoye, the decision followed the dismissal of a suit filed by the Socio-Economic Right and Advocacy, SERAP seeking the extension of the CVR exercise beyond June 30, 2022.
Accordingly, the commission has decided to extend the process by two weeks, ending July 31, 2022; extend to eight hours daily as against the current six hours duration, while extending the exercise to include weekends, Saturdays and Sundays.
