The Federal Government of Nigeria has promised to complete the gold market it started constructing in Kano State in the next 10 months.
It said the Kano gold market also known as gold souk, when completed, will be a hub for Artisanal and Small-scale miners to sell their gold within the country instead of exporting it in raw form.
The market, which the government hopes will compete favorably with the Dubai gold market, will, in turn, be a center where raw gold is turned into jewelry for local and international consumption.
Idowu Jokpeyibo made these known in a statement on behalf of the Director Press & Public Relations of the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development.
She said the Minister of Mines and Steel Development Olamilekan Adegbite made it known at an inspection tour of the facility in Kano.
According to her the Buhari administration has assured it would complete the ongoing Kano Gold Souk before the end of the year 2022.
