A member of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Elizabeth Edem Ironbar is dead.
Ironbar, who represented Akpabuyo constituency, died early on Wednesday after a protracted illness, a family source confirmed to reporters on Wednesday morning.
Ironbar was seen as a tough woman as she had represented her constituency since 2015 and was said to have refused to defect from the opposition Party to the ruling party following the defection of the state governor, Ben Ayade.
Ironbar is known for her Cross River State Disability Commission bill and is the second member of the ninth Assembly to die.
The first was Godwin Akwaji, a member who represented Obudu constituency.
