Following the 2-1 loss at home to Serbia, Cristiano Ronaldo has said Portugal’s hope of attending the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is still very much alive.
Portugal had opened the scoring in the second minute of the game through Renato Sanchez which was equalized by Serbia through Dušan Tadić in the 33rd minute.
Serbia went on to win the game after an effort by Aleksandar Mitrović in the 90th minute and is now on top of Group A in the World Cup qualifiers.
Reacting, Ronaldo gave no excuses for the loss, while expressing the optimism that Portugal which occupies the second position in Group A will be in Qatar.
He disclosed this on his social media platform and said football has shown time and again that sometimes it’s the winding roads that lead to the most desired wrecks.
