Former Super eagles international, Benedict Akwuegbu has expressed positivity about the Super Eagles team who on Wednesday departed the shores of Nigeria in anticipation of the AFCON 2021 competition taking place in Garoua, Cameroon.
Akwuegbu stated that the Super Eagles would perform well despite the absence of Nigerian strikers like Victor Osimhen, Paul Onuachu, and Odion Ighalo while heaping praise for the Super Eagles interim coach, Austin Equavon for organizing the team within a short period.
The former Grazer AK striker also showed displeasure with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over its decision to hire a new foreign coach, Jose Peseiro.
Recall that the NFF led by Amaju Pinnick had recently sacked the super Eagles Gaffer, Gernot Rohr.
Speaking with BossFm 95.5 Abuja correspondents via phone call on Friday, The former central attacker said there are more experienced former internationals who could coach the eagles perfectly.
He further added that former internationals are more than willing to bring in their wealth of experience to help build the national team when called upon.
